Crab killer in intertidal zone: Echidna catenata
Chain snakes, or snake eels, are Muraenidae fishes distributed along the western coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Like other members of the family, they are ferocious predators. As a predator who prefers to eat crustaceans, the teeth of the snake are very round, blunt and thick, suitable for crushing the shells of shrimp and crab. In addition to a sudden dive from the water and a surprise attack, the fish can even land and hunt its prey.
